-A serve may not be attacked or blocked when it is above the height of the net.
-A player may not follow the ball past the plane of the net. Once the ball crosses the plane of the net, a player cannot attempt to return the ball to their side of the court.
-Players are allowed to use foot saves and it counts as a hit.
-Let serves are allowed.
-A player may have a double contact on the team‘s first contact if the referee judges the attack to be a “hard driven ball“. This rule does NOT apply for a serve.
-A second contact that travels onto the other side of the net will be allowed as long as it is “clean” and unintentional OR “clean” and if the ball has a trajectory perpendicular to the line of the player‘s hands, shoulders and hips (i.e. the player is “square“).
-In order to ensure the safety of all athletes and officiating teams, any player that makes contact with any part of the net, pole and/or guide wires while the ball is in play, will be ruled a out of bounds and result in a point for the opposing team.
-Balls played outside a court’s boundary lines, but without stepping or finishing into another court of play (whether active play is happening or not) will be allowed.
-Interference from another courts’ player, ball, or other will be left to the discretion of the official. When in doubt, teams will replay those points. When possible, play will continue if there is deemed no interference. However, player safety must always be a priority and replays must be called if a player's safety is in question.
-Players will compete with regular indoor volleyball format and rules. Including but not limited to the first contact rules, second contact rules, substitutions, liberos, etc.
-There is no limit on substitutions, however substitutions will follow all other indoor substitution rules.
-There is no 10 foot (3 meter) line to designate a back row attack or liberos hand setting. This will be a judgment call from referee. If it is close we want the referee to let it go and players to continue play. It will only be called if it is egregious.
-The second contact will be a judgment call from referee. We want the referee only call a lift or a double for this division if it is egregious, otherwise we want to let it go and players to continue play. Remember this is a Charity Event and we want this to be fun and we are not looking for a whistle to be blown every other point on judgment calls.

There will be a “work” schedule for teams that are off. If you are in a pool of 3 teams- 2 teams will be playing and the off team will be working. If you are in a pool of 4 teams- 2 teams will be playing, 1 team will be working and 1 team will be off. If you are in a pool of 5 teams- 2 teams will be playing, 1 team will be working and 2 teams will be off.
This is a charity. We will not be paying officials to be there. We are asking for everyone to do their best. This has worked out great in previous years. We will be asking teams to have an R1 (head ref), an R2 (second ref on the other side of the net) and a score flipper. If your team has enough players to provide line judges that would help as well but it is not required.
The work schedule will be part of the schedule of games on Volleyball Life. The schedule will be out as soon as possible once divisions are full or we decide to close divisions (no later than Thursday May 2nd).
We are still working on finalizing all divisions and therefore have not finalized the pools and playoff schedule yet. However, here is a rough idea for the schedule for the day:
